LUTHERAN SOUTH FREEZES THUNDER VARSITY

February 11, 2010

Lutheran South Academy played like it was mid season while the Thunder showed signs of rust in this early season matchup losing to Lutheran South 9-4 in 38 degree weather. Lutheran South played outstanding baseball limiting the Thunder to 7 hits and 4 earned runs. Sophomore Ben Distefano and senior TC Cooper led the Thunder with two hits each while Evan Cokinos, Joshua Boothe and newcomer Colin Powers all contributed 1 hit a piece.

However, poor defense was the story on this cold night as the Thunder committed 4 errors and several other misplayed balls leading to 4 unearned runs. While the defense was cold, the pitching was in good form as Distefano, Cokinos and Cheo Jauregui each threw 2 innings on the evening walking only 3 batters and striking out 7.

The Thunder looks to bounce back next week as they hit the road for three games and the hope of warm weather and better defense.
